Evening chores are a true delight this season.
There’s the hen tending (they like their grapes peeled),
vegetable and fruit harvesting (and some sort of canning most
evenings — marinara sauce and salsa this week, every night…),
a kitten getting into trouble,
Plum begging for fetch,
Farley on the front porch surveying his territory,
Penelope munching on cherry tomatoes
and that gorgeous golden hour light sashaying its way down through the outstretched limbs of trees.
Summer had wings.
Fall feels auspicious.

  18. Everything is so green and beautiful. We haven't had any rain for months now. Everything here is burnt to a crisp, literally. Wild fires have been raging across Texas. One was just a couple of miles from our house. The smoke has finally cleared from our farm. We are very grateful to our "volunteer" firemen. I could smell your green grass, grape vines, tomatoes and that beautiful rose. Take a sniff for me please. Enjoy all of that beauty. Its so easy to take it for granted…

Yep. Apron is the perfect receptacle for those tomats.. Well done.

    Here's to a lucky Fall!

You have a bountiful apron…and beautiful applies to the rest : )

  21. The Noisy Plume says

To those living in the dry spots who are craving green: I actually thoroughly irrigate my entire yard with spring creek water that runs down the mountain and (quite literally) into the yard, when I pull the irrigation gate. Plume Gables has water rights!!! That's a big deal, here in the West.

This is all to say, it might be brown here too….were I not a fool for irrigation. 🙂 Hang in there! Winter rains and snows are coming. x

  22. Desiree Fawn says

Haha, grape-loving-hen!! Oh gosh, sweeties. Mine have learned to find themselves atop the 6 foot fence to eat all sorts of naughty things. Oh goodness…

    You know….it IS a sweet life….even when it's not. 🙂 x

  25. The Noisy Plume says

…I know……what does that even mean? I had to come back and explain, VERY briefly, that I think I'm beginning to see things more and more as a WHOLE instead of a cluster of instances. On the whole, this life is very, VERY sweet. When broken down into situations, it sometimes isn't but I prefer to see the big picture here…it makes everything cup-half-full. 🙂

  26. I have this same apron! I never think of wearing an apron when egg-gathering, but it would definitely work better than the stretching-out-my-shirt method used when I forget to grab a basket.

  27. this outfit is my favoritest.
    and so are you.
