well the appearance that I may be the first commenter makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Thanks for sharing your talent with us all!! I would love to wear your pretty necklace, it SCREAMS Spring!! And it's my favorite color.
So I guess the cards are lining up in my favor so far….
    One can only wish.

  2. One of my favorite things about the warm weather is being able to open the windows so the cat can sniff the air and chirp at the birds. It's so weird and cute.

The necklace is so incredibly lovely!

  6. What a generous, kind gift (for someone!). Spring is like the big cosmic uplift, the shift into lemonade and rooftop barbeques and reading on the beach. It's the season that pushes in on you, flooding heat. After dinner walks, iced coffee in hand. Novels on the front steps. Sitting in the sand. Mmmmm.

  7. Miss Crowland says

yesterday i was struck by tree after tree of bright pink blossoms.

  8. Antoinette says

spring is here and everything is green, the birds are back expecting their seed! all my trees in my mini orchard have blossoms and finally I am putting down my dream raised container gardens fenced off well enough to keep the doxies of evil OUT! HA! your necklace, of course, is yummy:) love you

  9. Me, me, me, pick me. I love that lovely seed! It must come home to my house.

I just planted new seeds in the garden yesterday. So, it will be a bit before I see the tomatoes, lettuce, wax beans, green beans, or cucumbers. But the carrots are popping and the peas too!! I love to check on them.

    kerry@kabsconcepts(dot)com

  10. Oh gosh, that is just wonderful. How fabulous that would be!

For me, my daily morning stroll around the garden is an unending birth of wonderful sights: a first sprouts unfurling as it is newly christened by the sun, a pea shoot anchoring itself securely with it delicate tendril of chartreuse, the steady rhythm of hummingbird wings as he plunges his beak into pendant yellow trumpets, the slow expansion and deepening of the tight clusters of blueberries. There is nothing more thrilling and precious.

  11. Kim Edmiston says

WOW! You're giving away this awesomely gorgeous necklace?! No way! I would LOVE to wear this necklace. It would be perfect for the lovely spring weather we're having in California! I've already got my garden growing; green beans, peppers, zuchinis, arugula, tomatoes of all kind, radishes, basil, the list goes on! My favorite part of spring is watching these wonders grow from baby seedlings, enjoying a cold beer, and soaking up the sun! Cheers! πŸ™‚

    So, so gorgeous!
I guess one of the most beautiful things I've seen so far this spring was our rottie-mix Caloi actually walking out of the vet's office to the truck, and wagging her stubby tail when she saw her sister-dog, Cheyenne. We knew then she was improving after a very scary sudden illness. She's a sweet old girl, turns 13 this July.
I share custody of her with my ex-boyfriend, and that weekend he let me have her to start to fatten her up again. We spent a lot of the weekend on the porch, watching the birds and squirrels and people and flowers.
My sweet girls, Chey is 12, they are older ladies now. Spring and summer won't be the same when they aren't around to sit on the porch or in the garden with me.

  14. Twyla LOVES the necklace from Christmas. Thanks. As she's online sporadically, I'll put her name in here.

She's busy busy doing April gardening in Calgary. With snow every weekend, that means trying to start all the plants inside. No outside in sight for a while.

  15. Lizzy Derksen says

Yesterday, making up after a fight, I read my husband-to-be the vows I wrote for our wedding 10 days away.

Your necklace is joyful. I would love it.

  16. Jeweled Blossoms says

If you're ever in the San Francisco area the 1st Sunday of any month, please, please go to the HUGE (literally, like 3 football fields) antique flea market in Alameda. It's something only an old soul and artist would fully appreciate. Bring a bag(s). Bring a sunglasses AND sunscreen (I forgot the latter and now have a specimen-necklace-pendant-shaped-tan-line on my chest, but it was totally worth it).

I'm trying to encourage my hydrangea which I've taken in doors to not die. (I think this may already be a lost cause.)

I'm going to attempt to keep my life in orderly fashion though my feet are itching to take me to the nearest park, patch of trees or hillside for some serious napping, nature loving, reading a book fun.

    xoxo,
    Cathy

P.S. I saw a delicious slice of plume agate the other day and thought of you.

  17. Spring has come rather slowly here in MT, but I have never been more excited than I am now for this new season. School is winding down and I am looking forward to doing some trail running and mountain exploring. I love reading your blog…it encourages me, challenges me, and most of all it inspires me. Thank you for your words and for the beautiful things you make! Here's to hoping…

  20. hello my plumerina! this necklace is beautiful, organic, fantastic. but you don't need me to tell you that…

lately i've been finding beauty in very small, almost unnoticeable vignettes around my home, in the everyday scenes of my life. in the way the light hits my turquoise wall, the way a candle flickers, the way fabric hangs on a beautiful garment.

an example of one of these vignettes in photo form: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thehighestheel/4573119091/

thanks for your generosity, my friend.

You are the most kindest and talented lady ever πŸ™‚

The most beautiful thing in my life is my children. Watching them grow is and will be my ultimate life's reward.

PS-I can't describe my garden because it is still scraggily and the local town greenhouse doesn't open until Mother's day (each year)…and also because there is a local snow warning this week, right on schedule (each year).

PPS-I hope I win!!!! If not, one of these ladies will be a lucky dang woman!

I wish I had only positive things to say about spring, warm weather, budding trees and the like. Sadly, our forecast for this evening calls for MORE snow and blustery cold winds.

If mine, the necklace would certainly warm my heart the way this false spring cannot!

    Jilly!

Roses are red. Violets are blue. Oh how I wish, I could hug YOU!

Despite my lack of garden space and coordinating green thumb, my neighborhood is abound with signs of spring … songbirds chirp encouraging words to WAKE UP as I hit snooze one too many times, cherry blossoms rain down like sweet smelling snow as I walk to the st. car … cafe windows open to outside seating. Oh how I love burgeoning hope that comes with spring!

  33. You are just too sweet, J! And the color of that enamel…SWOON!

Let's see, well the most inspiring thing I've seen lately is your jewelry and blog (no I'm not saying that to kiss up. I promise!) I've been in a bit of a down mood lately (partly due to the weather) and so I haven't had a chance to be outdoors where I find the majority of my inspiration. So I'm living vicariously through you for the moment. Although, there is this cardinal outside our office window that pecks the glass about a thousand times a day because (we think) he sees his reflection and believes it's another bird trying to attack his nest. I guess that's sad in a way, but I kinda think it's inspiring that he works so hard to protect what's his. Much love to you, J!

  34. Thanks so much for this opportunity! I'm never fast enough to get anything at your shop anymore, so maybe my chances are actually better in this drawing (even if zillions of people comment :). Something beautiful– These days, I am loving and watching my little babe grow. His smiles and coos, and actually just about anything he does, make my day.

  35. Dearie Darling, you are too generous. Your words, your work, you, are so very inspiring and I'm so thrilled and happy I found you.

    thrills and chirping cheers!

So many things in the world are simply breathtaking & seem to be in a state of constant change to another that it's hard to put my fingure on one moment in time. One of my favorite times is when I've put ut my hummingbird feeders & my little hummers have gotten comfortable in their new surroundings. I can sit on my porch & they will light on the porch rail….they cock their tiny little heads sideways as if they're waiting to hear what I have to say. Yep, the neighbors have caught me talking to the hummers, but I don't think they were surprised…..they actually put up a feeder the next day.

You're so generous to share on of your beautiful treasures with us. I hope it's me, but where ever it travels, it will be loved & cherished.

    Thanks,

My daughter was born with strabismus, and had 2 eye surgeries before she was 2 years old. Every Dr. we've taken her to has told us she isn't binocular.

So… the most beautiful thing I have witnessed is my 5 year old daughter, at a 3D movie, saying "it's popping out at me" and reaching her little arm out to grab things.

After all this time I had accepted the fact that she couldn't use her eyes together, and that she would miss out on things like 3D movies. A beautiful thing to witness indeed to find out that she can!

This is a gorgeous necklace! Thank you for the give a way!

    How exciting!

I recently went on my first interview in 10 years. It is in a field I've been in for a long time, but a new environment which will require learning new things. There has been a lot of personal growth for me the last two years and that equipped me to approach this interview with confidence in what I know and an eagerness to grow and learn. Anyway, I was hired on the spot and started my training today. It was a great moment. So that's my spring growth spurt πŸ™‚

    Oh my Jillian,
I have been a follower of your blog for quite a while now. I am in awe of your talent. Not only your jewelry, but your poety and wonderful spirit.
I am imagining myself a metalsmith one day too. I just signed up to take a course at the Roycroft Campus this summer.
This past spring I have been walking my dogs past a fox den and watching the three little kits play under a thicket. Momma fox looks tired but Poppa fox is the most handsome fellow. I have loved witnessing this wonderful fox family dynamic.
Thank you for your lovely gesture of giving away one of your absolutely spectacular creations.

oh miss jillian (the dear basket of tangerines). how absolutely wonderful you and that necklace are. it's not all springtime-y in laramie yet. it's supposed to snow tomorrow, but I have been doing some spring time cleaning due to moving houses. Also, I'm drinking lots of white cranberry juice while wearing spring looking dresses which I feel is necessary this time of year. I am so terribly excited to adventure with you this summer. lets get in touch about that- yes?

Unfortunately, my husband works long hours. But, when he's home, he works hard to be present in the moment. One of the most beautiful things I experienced this weekend was watching him play with our 9-year old son; rolling around in the grass, playing ball, lying on their backs looking at the clouds, laughing, and just enjoying being together. It made my heart happy.

Your work is so wonderful! πŸ™‚

Dirt under the nails that remember
    The creating. Inhale. Aaahhhh.

my humble springtime tribute to the delicately strong flower that is Jillian. Thanks for pouring out your self to all of us.

  59. The Flowering Fig says

    hi jilly bean,
of course who wouldn't want to have that piece of wonder draping from their neck!!! i am just as intrigued to share with you the emergence of my heart and what i have accepted as a gift this spring. As vulnerable as this makes me i will share with you the final acceptance i have found within myself. With spring I am releasing all the rusty chains that have bound me and my ability to fully embrace my place on this earth. Realizing now that I have spent the majority of my life internally suffering from a desperately low self esteem, anxiety, and social phobia I am now righteously taking back all of the open space that surrounds me and i intend to joyfully explore it as i wish. I am inspired to grow beyond my grief and loss and truly see myself as a gift and a worthy wanderer of this earth. It can be painful and sad as it is liberating and uplifting. I saw your question and had no choice but to respond honestly and without shame that at 28 years old I'm learning self love and what it means to have a healthy self esteem. I just came home from my session with my counselor and your question was like a proposal for me to put it in writing with my head held high and my heart beat strong. This is the greatest gift I've received this spring or in my lifetime perhaps. As well the moss in these luscious BC forests makes me fall to my knees with abundant love and gratitude that i should be so blessed to feast my eyes upon such things. I love you sister.

  60. Oh you lovely lady! Thank you for making MY spring beautiful! Spring here keeps rocking between 45 degrees and rain and 90 degrees and baking sun. My little plantlettes don't know what to do! Spring also means the emergence of events in horse country – the Hunt Cup across rolling fields, the run for the Black-Eyed Susans, and soon the decadence of polo matches….and big hats of course!!

watching 3 children walk across the way, 2 girls with bright colored umbrellas, the boy-in front, with no umbrella, on their way to school this morning…it was really sweet.
a little girl, Victoria, (a neighbor) handed me 3 flowers this weekend while I was on my back deck, she's not quite 3, they were a bit crumbled and sweaty, and had no stems but they made my soul grin wider than the sky!
    I love your work Jillian.

    you go girl!

  62. Jaccalyn says

You are so very generous, you can tell how much you adore your work. You dont create to make money, you make money creating what comes from your Soul. And what a beautiful soul it is.

I think we are already past spring in my corner of the world. one thing i dont like about living in Az is the lack of all 4 seasons. So warm weather here we come, but with it, i have 6 small green tomatoes popping out, and my Magnolia is starting to bloom. No matter what sort of day i have had, when the smells of my Patunia's and Stokes drifting in my front door reach me, i melt.

You inspire me to greatness, and to show my gratitude i have a little bit of plotting going on in my head. hopefully to reach you before summers end.

when the sun starts to shinin' i get real slow (like the sun put a voodoo spell on me), i hunker' down low in the grass and watch all the critters movin' this way and that…there's a whole lotta' serious business happenin' down there…gettin' low down is one of the best things anybody can do! oh, wait, gettin' low while wearin' plumage is one of the best things anybody can do!

  64. The best of spring on this patch of prairie…
    …snow on May Day…
…a first-time turkey mama so fiercely dedicated to her nest that she hisses at ALL intruders…
…seven pasqueflower buds waiting to bloom in my garden…
…goldfinches and white-crowned sparrows sharing space at our feeders…
…and a hilarious walk-a-thon last Wednesday around town with the 4th, 5th and 6th graders to benefit one of their own–we all laughed so hard for an hour that I could hardly take the photos I needed for our newspaper!

Spring is good…and your necklace offering embodies one form of that goodness and light.

Thank you for sharing your spirit, and please know I'm sending special prayers your direction for the coming weeks of fire season….

  65. oh you KNOW i'm into this contest…right now it's threatening to rain like crazy here so we're sitting inside (both on the computer…how lame) and thinking about what to make for supper that doesn't involve the bbq. oh yeah, and i have a 70lb black and white footwarmer (who likes to suck on his pink blanket and play frisbee) at my feet ;). hope all's well there, give the pups and kitty (and hens?) smooches for me!
    xoxo

  66. Exciting? Watching your new enamelwork, of course!

And while the little patch of urban blight that I call home is bereft of bountiful gardens, I do get to enjoy a daily climb up to the roof to watch the pigeons above and groundhogs below. I inspect the bricks, the rust, and secretly marvel in the beauty of the decay that surrounds me.

On the days my faithful feline companion escorts me, we are sure to hang our heads over the ledge to inspect the squawking baby mockingbirds living in our roof. (The same mockingbirds who will soon grow large enough to tag-team attack Mr. Bones and I as we stroll along the railroad tracks, as they are wont to do).

  67. Today I walked to campus and noticed that finally (FINALLY) real leaves are on the trees! Not just buds, but full on leaves. Ah, summertime is still alluding me, but it is getting closer every day!

  68. The most beautiful thing about spring for the past two years is all of the flowers. Cherry blossoms and dogwoods, tulips and daffodils. I have been so lucky to live in CT and see all of these things that we were not lucky enough to get in Arizona. I also saw some lovely peonies at the little market down the street. And I of course love spending time running around the neighborhood and up the park trails seeing the leaves explode. This necklace would be such a great reminder of spring to me when I move back to AZ in July – woo heat! haha

    Hello again,
I think your work is absolutely fresh and full of inspiration…but you know I feel that way. This necklace is beautiful and so full of spring (my favorite time of year…new beginnings and fresh starts) What is the most beautiful thing I have seen? My eight year old daughter playing out on our balcony…affectionately touching all of the lovely new flowers we chose together. Like her mom she has a love for flowers and all creation. When she doesn't know that I am watching her she is extra delightful. Also I wanted to share with you 7 things…I missed my opportunity way back when. Did I tell you that I loved that blog? It was so touching and personal.
    So here goes…
    1. My favorite color is green.
    2. I love to sing when I am feeling uplifted. I will sing in back alleys, down the street. I don't care.
    3. I love my hands. Which is why I love rings.
    4. I have always been plagued with heart-renchingly sad dreams or dreadfully frightful ones.
    5. I love literature. There is nothing so lovely as a well-put sentence, phrase, etc. (And you are so expressive and eloquent, Intelligent. I like that.)
    6. I believe God exists and we are created in His Image.
    7. I love to see the good and beautiful in everything around me.

Spring! I think it was named appropriately because it does tend to SPRING upon you! The world is dark and dreary and cold and before you know it, all the sudden, smashwhizbang…There's green and color and warmth and happiness and life! Love it!

And of course and as always…I love the mighty Noisy Plume, whether or not you are giving something away…But i'll be honest…I wouldn't mind winning. πŸ˜‰

Amazing! Your talent really helped inspire me to take silversmithing classes. I have a long while until my vision matches up with my finished product as yours so gloriously do!
I love seeing my little girl in the spring, with the sun lighting up her blond hair, her little legs clad in white tights while she twirls in a dress. I love how she gently touches and feels the velvety tulip petals of each and EVERY tulip in the yard while saying it's color and we can't go back inside until she finishes her rounds. Now THAT is what relishing spring looks like!

  74. oooooohh JILLIAN! how generous and lovely! love the necklace and love LOVE you.

i will tell you the SECOND most beautiful thing i've seen very recently, before i tell you the FIRST. there are green things sprouting in the garden! pea shoots! radish sprouts! spinach, lettuce, beets!

the most beautiful spring-time thing? my boyfriend's look of glee every time he comes back from the garden when he tells me that there's one more green thing. it's pure 6-year-old glee. i love it, and i love him.

    wahoooo!

  78. Wow! How beautiful! I think what makes me most excited about gardening this year is that we have 3 new neighbors helping out in the community garden! Transforming Detroit one garden at a time!!!! Plus a few art projects in discussion to further make our neighborhood pretty! There are so many signs of hope this spring in Detroit.

I miss watching my grandma hang up her white sheets
As I scamper in the meadows
I don't care about my pants getting dirty when I sit on the rooftop and listen to the trees whispering to eachother in the wind
I inhale the golden shadows as the sun wrestles with the moon
Into twilight and morning the window leaks different flavors of freedom till 8:30 pm
    I see hands hold hands
    yellow weeds kissing evergreen grass
As cows stretch, I see ravishing ambitious women in their summer dresses
Now all I have to do is wait for the purple orange pink blankets to wine over the sky

They roost here in April through the summer. What a glorious sight!

Oh! Look at all the amazing people already hoping to get a little free Noisy Plume. That's adorable!

Well, I am glad I can come and share the most beautiful event of my day today. It was only a second long. But it stayed with me for a while.

I was waltzing back from yoga class, crossing my little street after getting off the bus and suddenly I hear a car zoom by me and a lone, high pitched "woof!". I immediately turned around to look for the daring dog who wanted to begin a conversation with me –I was the only one on that street so yes, I will assume I was the privileged one– it was the tiniest light brown, big bright-eyed chihuahua. And just like that he was gone from my sight, but he jolted me with excitement, "who do you think you are doggie?" I thought to myself and proceeded to have a mental conversation. Such are the little miracles that bring us back to reality and away from our mundane lives. They are there for those who want to see them.

    The end. <3

You are the perfect being to share this little happiness with, even if that beautiful necklace adorns someone else's neck πŸ™‚

OO la la Mrs Plume, another beautiful creation from your fingertips.

It reminds me of our lemon-scented rosebush which, despite the ever-cooler mornings, and the fact that he's moved house three times in the past six months he's got two bright buds unfurling…

Its autumn here which is my favourite season; its a time for unleaving and letting fall away all the dust thats accumulated in the past months, to care for my soul, soften my heart and make way for new growth.

Love to you and your hearth x

    That necklace is incredibly lovely!

The beauty I saw today was my daughter apologizing to her baby brother for knocking him over. The sweet concern and worry in her face as she stooped over to pat his back and say, "Der der, bwudder. I swowwy I hurt you".

My hope and prayer is that by instilling compassion and concern in my children, their future will be more beautiful than mine.

  93. I live in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. Not exactly the first place that comes to mind when one thinks of growing things, unless those things are made of steel. The honest-to-goodness kind – not the figurative steel of nerves, or will, or determination, or muscled "guns"…though…this spring a handful of Hamiltonians will call on all of those fire-forged qualities in the name of farming.

About a month ago a friend offered an unused plot of land at the edge of his parents’ farm, outside of the city, to grow vegetables if anyone was interested.

It’s an underdog of a slice of land right now – dry and dusty, choked with weeds, pocked by rocks, and shaded by one too many trees β€” but roughly a dozen of us have decided to make something of it (you can see our first farm day of the season at one of my fellow farmers' websites here: http://www.loveitalot.com/2010/04/farm-days.html).

We’re pumped and primed for a summer full of farm fun, farm aches, farm pains, post-farm beers, farm falling fast asleep at night after a day of weeding, beekeeping (yes it’s true! It’s in the planning stages anywhooooo), old-school farm tractor action and finally, fully enjoying the fruits of our collective farm labour over many, many shared summer dinners. Sweet buttery squash grilled on the BBQ. Earth-damp, delicious potatoes doused with butter and garlic. Canning beets in the sun of summer, to be enjoyed during frozen winter. Such is my vision, and I am fired up for realizin’ it!

I'm certain we'd reap an extra abundant harvest if I worked with this lovely and powerful talisman hanging from my neck!

  94. You sure know how to get me to stop lurking! This necklace is decadent!

The prettiest thing I saw today–my thirteen month old daughter's thick fist wrapped ever so gently around the tip of our kitten's striped tail as she brushed it against her pink cheek. Both looked perfectly satisfied.

  95. Marina H says

Man when you give things away you get a million comments! How exciting.

First of all hi, *waves* That necklace is lovely. I adore those little clover leafies.

Let's see, the most beautiful thing i've seen as of late was this palomino on my way home this weekend. He was all alone in his paddock by the road, green grass to his knees, white mane blowing in the wind. I think i changed my color preference from chestnut to palomino in about 5 seconds. πŸ™‚

I am right now able to go to the park every day, sometimes twice a day with my 2 yr old after being tethered to a cubicle so this Spring is certainly better than those past. 108. Love this necklace!!

Living in the concrete jungle, nature in large quantities often needs to be sought out and takes quite a bit of exertion. This has led me to appreciate whatever small bits of spring float into the city… the huge potted planters of brilliantly colored tulips along Michigan ave, the tops of the blossoming trees outside my 3rd story window, the colors of Lake Michigan in spring (gray and purple and light blue), the pure white sailboats using the strong April winds to skitter across the lake, planters everywhere that were dormant in our long winter suddenly overnight are brimming with color! The color is so much more noticeable surrounded by gray concrete. I never appreciated flowers fully until I lived in a city. The fresh warm air of spring is also a welcome relief from the oppressive cold of winter. It brings a lightness to the city that permeates every building and being… ahhh… deep breath.

  109. Wow!! Stunning as always.

As for growing things–I'm still very sad about moving away from my little veggie garden last summer but I'm hoping to do some amazing container gardening this year in my urban abode.

    How exciting!

This spring I have been really inspired by the book "Make the Impossible Possible" by Bill Strickland. That, mixed with the empowerment of a new exercise routine of running, push ups, and sit ups are shifting my sight. I live in a biggish city and ride the bus to work every day. I wait early in the morning in my small, working class neighborhood with the bright, new sun just over the treetops shining on a little garden across from my stop. I have no choice but to stand and observe in the quiet and it has been a marvelous start to each day. Then, I get on the bus and watch as people pack in and I marvel at the interesting and beautiful variety of people on this earth and wonder what they all do and where they go each day. Sometimes I make up the stories myself. That's what has been interesting me lately.

Thanks for the chance to win!

    Hi Jillian!

Look at all of these wonderful comments, how exciting!!

The most beautiful thing I have witnessed was the front range and high country of Colorado. This was the first time I have seen mountains over 5k feet (I live in the Blue Ridge mountains of VA). Their beauty left me speechless and inspired me to create. Running on the red arrid trails amongst the lone pines was invigorating. Letting the crisp mountain air fill my lungs with each footstike was heavenly. At times the scenery left me absolutely speechlees.

I feel that way when I see some of your jewelry, your creat my emotions and I would be honored to wear your art. Ahhh, kiss the mountain air we breathe…oh, its time to fly……..

I am on a quest to become more inspired, more artistic, more creative, and less mommy-only-ish. My own mother has raved about your work for ages, and has turned me onto it as well. I am finally at an age, (it only took 31 years!) where I am turned off by the same old stuff you can find anywhere, and am willing to explore new styles, new ideas, and new visions. I feel quite twitterpated by this concept! So while spring awakens outside my back door with the sprouting leaves, and the blooming tulips, and the chirping birds – which I adore by the way – I am feeling inspired by the spring awakening within my own spirit!

Jillia, you obviously give so much joy to so many people who peruse your blog that I think your middle name should be joy. I am extremely happy because I moved me and my business from Costa Rica to Guatemala only a week ago, changed my tiny house for a big old house..

With plum, lemon trees in the back.. and Red and pink Roses.. I even have a coffee plant and a fountain for the birds..

My workshop is the only thing in the second floor, with a wooden door that leads to the roof..I can go out to the roof under the hot sun to sit and stare at my yard while having ice tea ..

So spring, fixing the house, the yard, meeting new people, trying new food, massive amounts of Jade.. all of it makes me happy..

what a beautiful necklace you have created, i just love it!:)

the first thing that comes to my mind when i think of words like beauty, growth, life and strenght is the process that i have been going through since my body collapsed 3 years ago. the first months was so bad that i coulden't walk, brush my hair or take a shower by myself….and many other things to. i also couldn't manage much light and sound, in other words a very scary and completely new situation for me to be in.
maybe you are thinking about what the words beauty, growth, life and strenght has to do with what i am telling you and here are the answer πŸ™‚ despite the huge amount of tears, fear and darkness that the sickness brought in to my life three yers ago i CAN today say that this process have given me so many gifts that i treasure… i have learned to let go and just trust that i am safe, i have learned to not build my worth on things i do but who i am, i have learned to see and enjoy the beauty in life everyday and to BREATH πŸ™‚

i can't wait to crawl into my man in bed tonight to warm my cold toes because it has been a VERY COLD day here. actually we have had snow πŸ™ and the air has been soooo cold. so now i think i am going to take on my knitted socks and go to bed,

Well, little Plumie. You're giving another beauty away! I will tell you about the spring.

I am a National Park Service Ranger. What the spring brings: an onslaught of chirping birds, wide eyed visitors, beautiful flowers, and wonderful blooming trees–one specific tree American Elm that means the world to my community.

The Survivor Tree, as we refer to it at my site. It survived the blast and stands atop a gentle hill, demanding well-deserved attention.

Not only does the spring bring these beautiful things, it also brings an anniversary. It brings the anniversary of a very tragic event in American history. So large an event, that in order to keep on the sunny side, I look to that tree for stability and and as an encouragement of resilience.

While your (and my boyfriend's) happy place may be VW buses, trees are my happy place.

  198. you have changed how i see the small things in the world Miss Plumage.

  204. well, as thoroughly aware one can be of thick competition, i certainly would like to take the opportunity to thank you, if nothing more, for fulfilling my yearning for the fertile soil i have left behind in Saskatchewan.
whilst pursuing an education that will allow me to finally grow the herbs from Mother Nature's womb, i have bid adieu (for only a moment in time) my partner and i's cozy maple street abode & a backyard entirely devoted to a garden oozing with 'estrogen/progesterone' to sharing an apartment with 4 others: my partner, along with a mother, and her 2 children.
your self-expressing creations provide an escape when there are not many; exception granted to those hiding in the nooks and crannies of my rickety desk, or the melancholy of the waves since autumn has breathed on the coast of the south australian sands.
thank you for bringing home to me!

  206. Hey Jillian!

There will be Plume mail in (short) good time!

Hiya Jillian! I'm loving that necklace – and I love contests (although I never win, but it's still fun to enter)!

Springtime has been here in the Southern Interior for a little while now, although the weather has been a bit chilly. I just put in my garden yesterday though – yay! It's been YEARS since I've had a proper garden… Living in apartments during uni, and still renting a basement suite – although our landlords were good enough to give me a section of garden this year. I'll keep you posted and if you decide to pay us a visit later this summer, I'll make you a fine feast of garden delights! xoxox Cara
ps: you should already have my email address, just FB me if I'm the lucky winner πŸ˜‰

Hi! I love the smell of springtime. of the rain washing the dust away. the warm sun thawing my bones from the long and cold winter. It feels like people are alive in spring. We come out of hibernation, and finally I feel like I am not the only one alive in this northern city! And best of all, my flowers that i thought were swallowed up by water last summer, are actually blooming! whoop!
I love the necklace!! its gorgeous! How fun would it be to wear spring around my neck!!

May I please have that necklace? πŸ™‚ I brag about you to every metalsmith and blogger I know. I'm often heard saying "…well, have you seen the creations of my friend Jillian of The Noisy Plume? She is one of the most phenomenally talented artisans I've ever known" (not kidding or exaggerating). I'd be honored to show that necklace off, I tell ya.

Hi Jillian! You just have the most generous soul (and a special talent for transforming ideas, beauty and emotions into sterling silver)!
I think the best thing about spring is the promise of new life realized. I love having a change of seasons to help mark the passage of time and the harsh and extreme weather we often get in Kansas (not to mention WIND) just makes us appreciate the beautiful weather that much more.
Thanks for offering this giveaway and for all the beauty you share in your blog (and Etsy store)
Your chickies are looking quite lovely but they might be a little sensitive to the butterball comment because you know what happens to butterball turkeys!

  244. My 8 1/2 year old son Logan is beautiful. I didn't know before I became a mom how you can continue to love more and more this child you and the father brought here. He's says the most funny, insightful, intelligent, wise and ironic things. And seeing my husband and Logan together, the way they love each other, it's amazing! I'm so blessed.

And thank you for β€œsometimes giving things away”! That’s so kind.

What a beautiful necklace! Spring – well, I live in the DC area and one of the most beautiful things is the Cherry Blossoms! The other is when the Azela's in my front yard bloom, lots of pinks and gorgeous! Oh, the wonderful fresh air. I can open the windows and let the breeze in.

    Hello Miss Plume!

I have brushed my teeth in some beautiful places lately… My husband and I live in our 1984 toyota van, and I often find myself staring up at the clearest night sky, so speckled with stars that it seems to be more light than dark, or looking out at a sunrise over the Wingate sandstone bluffs and sagebrush of the south, with a toothbrush hanging out of my mouth! What a life! It is SO good.
    And so is your blog!
    And your jewelry!
Thanks for the amazing opportunity to snatch some plumage.

  250. I feel so lucky I checked in just before the deadline. My daughter and I want to learn how to make preserves (well, the fruit starts in spring). So we came here first for inspiration and know-how.

What a beautiful necklace Thank You for wanting to give it away. I love reading your blog, I'm a cowgirl at heart complete with a horse who is my dearest buddy. Spring…while driving to work one day this week I passed the same sheep pasture I always do except on this bright sunny morning there were babies lying all around, nothing better than seeing baby animals with their momma…so sweet and innocent.
