Sometimes I think we marvel at the moon and stars because the very stuff of our bodies is inter-planetary…I mean, the minerals that feed us on a cellular level may have once been dust on a moon surface in a galaxy far, far away. How can we not love the heavenlies? When we gaze up at the night sky, some tiny parts of ourselves feel like they can see home.

  1. Such beauty…. the moon, she slays me!!

  2. I like to look for the planets that are visible to the naked eye.
A stark reminder of how small we are in the universe.

And the light when the full moon shines at night…magical, so special, nothing like it….beautiful pictures, thank you again and again.

  4. Oh these look like postcards (hint hint) 😀

  5. LOVE this post. I keep trying to take moon pictures, but my little camera just isn’t up to it. There’s a certain kind of magic in a full moon over the mountains, isn’t there? And not only the moon – Venus has been extraordinary lately!

  6. Your blog’s art is a beautiful reminder to go outside, to see the star-scapes, glimpse the animals, and feel the sky within all the limbs of the body. Keep on a keepin’ it on Ms. Plume…thank you…

  7. Those images feed my soul. Looking into the night sky, seeing the moon, the stars feeds my soul and/or tiny parts of my soul, just as you wrote. It puts me in my place and at the same time transcends this “place”…makes me aware of the fact that I belong to the universe… Or something. THANK YOU! I’m moving into a new place soon. Finally. And I can’t wait to find a great spot for the moon picture you sold last year. So much love.
Have you listened to the CASE/LANG/VEIRS album? I love most of the songs on it. Especially SUPERMOON. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRLW-8F1Kbo A little tangent. But you blog post just made me put it on and find some new meaning in it.
    Thanks for everythig Ms. Plume!

  8. Hi Jillian – is that your kitchen sink with the plants? What a great view, if so – I still miss where I lived in Boulder looking out at the Flatirons every day, sigh. BTW, have you seen the bright “star” everyone is mentioning that is near Venus but is not, no one seems to be able to figure out what it is, but it’s huge and bright and mysterious. I never tire of looking at the sky, clouds or stars, it all fascinates me too! Thanks for the beautiful way to start the day!

  9. I love all these images!

The simplicity and starkness in these photographs is breathtaking….While studying them, the Shaker song of ‘Tis the Gift to be Simple came to mind…

‘Tis the gift to be simple
‘Tis the gift to be free
‘Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
It will be in the valley of love and delight.
