7I9A8088 7I9A8098 7I9A8100 7I9A8121Moonstone, chrysoprase, glass, pyrite, turquoise, silk and my “Bend and Not Break” motif in sterling silver makes for a simple, festive thank you for your support in 2015.  And this small thing I have to give away is so inadequate!  Your support puts diesel and gas in our trucks, pays our mortgage (or now, our rent), helps pay for further refurbishing work on our Airstream (our summer home), buys our groceries, covers our health bills, teeth cleanings, eye exams, vet bills and perhaps most importantly of all, it puts kibble in the dog and cat food dishes.  When you choose to support me as an independent artist, you support my family.  We are nothing without you.  You hold us up.

I thank you, we thank you, with all our hearts.

I hope to continue to serve you as best as I can with cameras, words and metal in 2016.

In the meanwhile, if you’d like a chance to win this necklace, please simply leave me a comment in the comment section of this post so I’ll know you were here.  I’ll draw a winning name sometime after Christmas.

::PLEASE NOTE::

I am giving away a second necklace through my Instagram account.  Head on over to double your chances.

Have a beautiful, restful, meaningful Christmas holiday, dear ones.

7I9A80817I9A8016[The tree this year is a vision, wild and sublime, featuring a mule deer rack as a topper, a simple festooning of pheasant tail feathers and elevated by a couple of feet on a huge cottonwood round — I cannot even express how merry it makes this little strawbale house of ours.  We are blessed, we are warm and joyful of soul, we celebrate with every cell of our beings, the birth of the Savior.]

Along the way, I spotted many herds of antelope and deer..and I saw a coyote dragging something away. Then it became very dark and moody, heavy with clouds and started to snow, as if in my very own snow globe. I decided to stay in Santa Fe and wander around a bit before making my way to the winter Arizona desert for Christmas with my family..

Wishing you the merriest Christmas and a delightful New Year!

  102. As always, you are so inspiring and your jewelry is amazing!

  103. Thank you for your beautiful pictures, words and jewels! You truly are amazing! Happy holidays!

  104. Jillian, you’re a gem. You’re an artist with metal, stone, photos and words. And, most importantly, you seem to have a kind heart and a reverence for the land and the animals. Never underestimate the wisdom in choosing Robert to go through life with. My dad was a Robert and the finest man I ever knew. Now, go get that pony and ride! I imagine that you’re an artist at that as well.

  105. Another year! Thank you for the beauty you bring into my days by sharing here. I’ve been reading and loving this blog for several years, and I’m always glad to see a new post up. The merriest of Christmases to you and yours, and a happy New Year too!

Ps.. have you read The Light Between Oceans, by M.L. Stedman? I couldn’t put it down. I loved it, even when it made me cry on the airplane.

  106. Can I just say… thank YOU. I discovered your writing, your jewery art, and photography this summer while I was camping across the country. Every year my band from Nashville, TN tours all over performing music for kids at small town library Summer reading programs. This past summer, instead of bumming around cheap hotels we decided to camp our way to these small towns (from South Carolina to California, and everywhere in between!). I was determined to document as much of the adventure as possible by starting a blog, and it was on that journey that I discovered yours. Finding “The Noisy Plume” was like finding an undiscovered John Muir diary! Your way with words takes me back to my favorite classic literature reads, I love getting caught up in the details of your precious Idaho–the mountain tops, the streams, the dirt, the smells and sounds…I get lost in it–a good lost…that kind where you don’t really want to be found. So thank YOU for not only making stunning metal and stone art, but for sharing your thoughts and words. I’m not one to comment much, and I apologize that this one has gotten a little lengthy, but I do look forward to reading your blog–always. I’m in love with the North West, but for now I don’t get to live there. So THANK YOU for writing about it in such fine and perfect detail (and sharing your photography) so I can have a little piece of it too. Merry Christmas xxx

    Warmly,

    Natalie

PS I may or may not want to be Jillian Lukiwski when I grow up… =]

hi Gillian, I love your words & work. I’ve been coveting your silverwork for the past couple of years but living in London, I never seem to get there as it sells out soooooo fast ! This necklace in particular chimes with me – I’m a long-time member of The Woodcraft Folk – the pine tree is on our symbol & our colour is green. Here is our envoi which we recite at the end of every group night – ‘this shall be for a bond between us that we are of one blood you & I, that we have cried peace to all & claimed kinship with every living thing, that we hate war, sloth & greed & love fellowship & together we shall go singing to fashion a new world ‘ Peace, live strong, love the sun, follow the trail

  148. Hello.
A few months ago my husband, son and I were in a life transition, and it generated a lot of stress. I check your blog daily and as things tend to go, just when I needed it, I came across your post on seeing the word SHALOM inside your neighbor’s house. What was meant for you, was meant for me also. Thank you for passing it on – I received it. The word is now painted above the kitchen window in my new home that overlooks a vastly different view than where we came from, a view we struggled for. And we are grateful. Thank you for posting such beauty. Shalom to you and you dear this Christmas season. ~ Brittni Z.
