Wake up. Wash face.  Make coffee or tea.  Go out into the yard and pick fruit.  Re-enter the kitchen, eat breakfast and can a batch of preserves.  Answer time sensitive emails.  Go out to the studio.  Work.  Come in for lunch.  Go out to the studio.  Work.  Come in for a snack.  Change into running clothing or change into hunting attire and pack a bag.  Take the dogs out.  Come home.  Make dinner.  Eat dinner. Can another batch of preserves.  Answer time sensitive emails (if I have the energy).  Edit photographs.  Phone Robbie.  Take a hot bath.  Brush teeth.  Go to sleep.

Repeat the next day.

September has a good grip now and time is of the essence.

  1. Lovely lighting in these. You are so lucky to live in a climate where you can grow such lovely fruits: too cold up here in Quebec!

Your days sound really nice and relaxing. Lucky lady for sure!

  2. it’s that time of year, ain’t it?….time to “put by” and lay the gardens to rest for the winter.
and, holy coyote, sweet idaho is showing her finest colours!

  3. Truth. There is the sense of feathering the nest, preparing for lean times, putting up stores. Both in my home, and in the barn, I feel this preparation keenly. Fencing secure, hay stored, draft-prone areas minimized.
    Be well. xx

  4. Just wanted to pop in and say how much I always enjoy your photos and writing. Lovely ways to start my day. And I agree with Alisha—your lighting is just spectacular.

Beautiful, glorious September. Cool nights, not-so-hot days. A month of abundance and grateful prayers. Hasn’t the Harvest moon been gorgeous? Don’t you love the jewels in the canning jars? There is such a rhythm to the autumn days.

  6. What sort of dogs do you have? They’re gorgeous.

    Such wonderful photos!
    Thinking of you. Kisses

  8. Fall in all its glory. You’ve captured it well. Work hard, breathe deeply, enjoy the harvest. You’ve earned it. xx

  9. Sounds like a wonderful September to me! Man, I miss those September colors!

  10. I kinda love everything about your September.

  11. September is the best of times in mountain land…I specifically always miss the Aspen and the sudden change in relative humidity and temp…here we go into heat waves, and I am sure some day I will miss this too..splendid photos mrs j xx

  12. What a glorious life…beautiful as always. xoxo

  13. WOW – Everything is so beautiful! Such a treat! Thank you.

  14. Sound like busy, busy days!! I love that you can everything you grow and that your days end with a run or a hunt. Seems like glorious times- and achingly tiring too. Take care of you!!

  15. I read this post, grabbed a bucket and went out to the wild plum tree on our property. We’ve been here 4 years now and I’ve never done anything with those plums. I was SO excited… my little in tow ready to taste some delish sun warmed plums. I guess the birds had the same idea a week or so ago! Not a plum to be found on the entire tree! So funny!

  16. This just makes me grin & grin…
    What a dear.
    xx

  17. I am LOVING September!

  19. Stunning images as always, I love your life

  20. I like this schedule. Mine has been too frantic, not busy enough. Naturally the solution would be to can a batch of preserves after breakfast and again before bed. Naturally.
