——————————————————————————-
Attention folks:  It’s hot out there.  Technically it’s still springtime but the weather is acting a lot like summer.  I know you need some good summertime music to play in your car while you criss cross town, drive out to your cabins or bike along the river bank with the wind in your long, sun kissed tresses.  I’ve made you a mix CD.  There’s a bit of the oldies and goodies and the newies and boppities on it.  Leave a wee comment at the bottom of this post if you’d like to be entered in the drawing for these mix CDs.  There are three to be won and it will be my pleasure to send them out with a little handful of other goodies.  Once they’ve reached their final destinations I’ll be sure to release this playlist so you can all enjoy it!  I’ll leave the comment section open for a couple of days before I do the drawing.

Just because I love you.

Summer on, sweet things.  Summer on.

:::POST SCRIPTUS:::

Farley says, “Do please hurry and leave your lovely little comment so she’ll take this thing off my darling noggin.”

  1. What a lovely idea!!! Have you ever listened to Andrea Simms-Karp? I think you would like her. I was actually going to send you her album around Christmas, but I suspect my email got consumed by the internets…..or made me sound like a stalker. (I’m not a stalker…..just a fan!)

    • Oh! My inbox may have tossed you in the spam pile or I may have lost your note! I’ll go check her out now! Additionally, I’m just really BAD at email. 🙂
      x

      • Awwww….she’s sweet and blizzard kissed. Love it.

        • No worries, please – I took no offense, but our mix cd reminded me again that wih the music you have written about, you might enjoy Hibernation Nation. The offer still stands, if you’re interested. It would let me support a fantastic Canadian musician and provide a thank you to someone wonderful and inspiring.

  2. Catherine Chandler says

Oooooh, I do love your mix CD’s! And Far Far Binks looks especially handsome with his new hat 😀 This would be perfect for our upcoming roadtrip, and many journeys after!

  3. I would love one!

I would also love it if my dog were patient enough to let me balance things on her head, too.

  4. Oh another one! hooray! 🙂 The winter mix you gave away a while back was delightful. I would love a copy of your summer mix, naturally.

  5. I would LOVE love love to get a cd from you! Owning anything from you is a treat!

  6. Oh, I would adore a little summer inspiration! The heat and humidity have both arrived here on the island and it is becoming hard to motivate myself out the door for my morning run if the sun is more than a few fingers above the horizon.

  7. Ohhh… I’m always looking for new (and old) tunes! And we have a pretty major road trip comin’ up! Do please drop my name in the hat!

  8. Your jewelry is exquisite and your blog is tremendously encouraging. May God’s sweet presence constantly rest upon you. Have a blessed day! Heidi

  9. Gimme! Gimme!
    🙂
    xo to you Plume {and poor Farley too…We do test their patience so…}

  10. Oh, Saint Tater, I hurry up to leave a comment! 😀
Yes, yes, yes! I neeeeeed this music!!! 🙂

I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🙂
    xo

  11. Oooh! cool! I love mix cd’s.
Farley’s such a good dog! I don’t think my dog would let me do that. Maybe if I gave him tons of treats….but I doubt it 🙂

  12. Mix CDs are the best! You’re making summertime sound so delightful, i’ve just got a few more exams till i’ll be doing all of that.

  13. Oh Farley I will hurry so that you can relax and have a nice afternoon nap. It is summertime here too. All the windows and doors are open to let the breeze flow through. Thank you for being so giving.
    Hugs, Carol

  14. i love that you do these cd’s, i am always looking for new music to work to in the studio… it would be wonderful to win one, but good luck to everyone else as well! xo

  15. Simone Turner says

Oh Yes, I’m so in need of some new music, and a mixed musical selection of yours would be wonderful!! Yay!! Also I left a comment yesterday about picnics, and I hope it wasn’t deleted, it was my poor attempt at humor! I do apologize if you didn’t find it so!! :~( !!

    • Hey beauty! Are you sure you left it — I mean, are you sure it was really submitted? I went and looked in the comment spam and trash bins behind the scenes here and couldn’t see it anywhere. I’m pretty sure I didn’t delete it (unless by accident). Did the cyber wolves get it? Did you leave it on Flickr???

      • Simone Turner says

Hey lady, ??? I’m such a dork sometimes with all this interwebular stuff!! The wolves? No, I think it was probably just me!!I think it was flicker, with the lovely picture of your little dinner party! I think?! Haha!! It was something like… Picnic chick, Picnic chickas, Picnic pooch!!! Hahahaha, just silly!! You are going to have such fun Picnics this summer!! Ya! All though I do hope we get much wetter weather, for you guys sake!! O well, have a lovely evening! XOX!!!

warm regards and soon-to-be happy trails to you;)

  18. I absolutely love hearing new music or maybe just new to me music. I have so enjoyed your blog and vicariously living your Northwest life. Your woods are something special.

  19. What an expression on Farley’s face!
A new mix of music to go along with the summery weather sounds lovely. I recently checked out Whitehorse after being introduced to them on your blog. Love them! I’ve been listening to Whitehorse in constant rotation with Jack White the past couple weeks!

  20. Such a sweet giveaway! Always love to hear someone else’s musical tastes 🙂
    Thank you!

  21. The first commenter mentioned Andrea Simms-Karp, and I second that motion! I have both her albums; she’s wonderful. Bahamas is another great Canadian artist: laid back patio music.

I’d love to hear your summer soundtrack.

    Shine on,
    Julie

  22. whoohoo summer cd!! my oldie old car can only play cds, and with all the commuting I do, this would be a blessing!!

  23. oh, sweet farley! looking at the serious expression on his face i’m guessing he’d rather be out hunting birds. he’s such a good sport!
new music sounds wunderbar. time to put the top down and hit ‘play’– it’s supposed to be 90 degrees by friday!

  27. Oooh! I would love to have some new music to listen to 🙂 !!

  28. Sign me up! I’d live a great mix to groove to in the kitchen!!:) good luck on the journey west!!

      xxxxxxx

  35. yes, please: count me in. if for no other reason than to relieve farley from having to be your mannequin-slave.

  36. Alvie Shepherd says

I am SO jealous of those who have animals that let their humans balance stuff on their heads!! Did this take a lot of work to allow?

    • Not hard at all. I taught my dog to sit and then I taught him to stay and then I taught him how to balance treats on his face and now he’ll balance anything for me until I tell him to stop. He’s pretty clever.

  37. Farley! Ever the regal one! Thanks to your Momma for the chance to win some tunes! Xoxo

  38. Looking for music that will blow my hair back alongside more familiar ditties. I have complete trust that you’ll deliver on both counts. After all, I found Imogen Heap via this blog and your very fine-tuned ear.

  39. pilatesprincess says

Eeek! This giveaway makes me excited regarding your impending move and nervous for the change! Would love to jam out to some awesome tunes while I take my pups to the dog park all summer long.

  40. Love your taste in music, J! And I also want to take this opportunity to say how splendid I found those rooster feather cairn earrings (each as a singleton)…wow!
You’re so close to taking off now…I’m so happy for you and RW, having that silver cocoon to travel and work and be in.
    x

  41. yes, yes yes, please! My two-ddler and I are always eager to have some new tunes to dance around the living room to! ;o)

  43. My long, sun-kissed tresses were lopped off this afternoon! Do I still qualify?

  44. Sierra Keylin says

Aloha chickadeeeeeee! I WANT IT! I’ve been dying for some new music lately, especially in the studio…I confess to listening to podcasts of my favorite NPR shows, Fresh Air, and As it Happens. Not that there’s anything wrong with the news, I’m a self-proclaimed NPR nerd, however it’s getting a bit stale and I need to shake my booty!

  45. Oh, count me in… I’d love to hear a fresh mix in the hot, sunny afternoon!

  65. Summer isn`t here yet, it isn´t too hot either, but the sun is shining and it is wonderful.
Maybe your music mix cd will bring the summer here as well :). And thank you for sharing your thoughts and pictures.

  66. I think we all love the “me/us” we see in ourselves through you and the way you live your life, so connected to nature, hardworking and courageous in your art. Maybe we’ve lived a little or a lot of the fullness ourselves, or only dreamed of some day adventuring out, but you share yourself so beautifully…openly, a gift to us all. I would love to feel the music you are sharing, but would also love to have a signed photo of you with the antlers for my ’59 Forester and trips to the mountains with my granddaughters and grandson this summer. I want them to see and know another way to live. For most of my life I have worked “real jobs”, mostly administrative, but when I was 28 I backpacked across Alaska, and the next year I lived in a tent in Idaho at the end of an old logging road and worked white water with just a motorcycle and my 10 year old son. Your antler photo took me back to those years of feeling wild, being young, and being more of the land than of the people.

A native Idahoan with Nez Perce, Welsh, Scottish, and English bloodlines, raised on the site of an old Idaho Indian encampment. You can only imagine the things felt there, almost seen out of the corner of the eye, but then again, I think you already know.

Come back to Idaho when the time is right, you do us proud.

    Safe journeys, Jillian.

  67. Yay!!! A new mix CD for summer, even though its almost winter down here in the land of OZ, I sure would appreciate some summer vibes 🙂

  73. This is so sweet. And you must have a ton of stuff to be doing now, but I can see how giveaways are fun in stressful/busy times! Have you heard ‘summer child’ by dar williams? I heard it on the radio a little while back, and I could picture it as the perfect summer tune for you.

  74. Me me me me me me…….

    Have a beautiful day
    Kristine

  75. oh boy, summer sounds from The Plume, count me in! and Farley is a very patient man-dog…

  76. Brittany says

Mix tapes make the best, most heart-warming gifts. . . You are a darling.

  77. Ahh! I believe my very first comment on your blog had something to do with springtime air, open windows, and playing it LOUD. Coincidence?! Xoxo.

  78. Oh my – how lovely! I would be thrilled to win your mix CD (and to releive Farley of his ‘burden’). Thank you so very much!

  79. Oh, it would be nice to replace my kickboxing music SWEATIN’ TO THE OLDIES with some PLUMEY TUNES!

  81. I hope I’m not too late to be entered in the draw!! I am in desperate need of new studio tunes – ever since Napster stopped service in Canada I have been in a serious funk. (I know – it was back in Dec., but I’m still bitter 🙂 ….).

I’m looking forward to your posts from your summer digs – more pics of the Airstream and pics of the glorious Pacific Northwest. You’ll be so close to my western stomping grounds, I hope you get a chance to visit Victoria (and the rest of the island)!

  101. Louise Hussey says

    xoxo,
    Biz

  123. Hell yes I want one of your mix cds.

Grand idea. One of the things I am most often to wax nostalgic about is driving around as a college student during the summers, windows rolled down on the old volvo, clock creeping toward 2 am, no where to go but home to my parents (and continually turning away from said home), as the sounds from the various mix tapes in my car fill the night air. Obviously I have a fond love for the mix tape.

  124. I would love one… and I would send one back to rebuttle!

  125. oh to summer we go!
austin, texas has been rainy & (relatively) cool these past two weeks. all the swimming holes and creek beds are full to the brim and the weekend promises plenty of sunshine and clear skies to take a dip in.
swimming holes, snocones, bicycle rides, and slow+lazy mornings eating breakfast tacos is summer to me.
    blooming away,
    a

  126. Oh, yes yes yes!

I carry your letter & card with me wherever I go. Cultivating a reply in my noggin.

  128. Who doesn’t love a mix cd??!
I’ve been wondering if you’ve heard “Airstream Song” by Miranda Lambert?…
We’ve been having lovely weather here on the west coast, I hope yours continues too!

  129. How wonderful! I’d love to hear the music that gets you going!

  130. Oooh yes please! It’s coming on winter down here, but I could use some summer-loving music.

    x. w.

  136. Oh my, it seems many of us are looking for new tunes for the summer! Thanks for sharing–I hope your move is splendid and invigorating.

  137. Spring has fully arrived in Saskatoon. I had to mow the backyard last weekend and the front will need to be done asap. Now our back lawn is covered with flowers from the willow tree. I’m tempted to purchase an outdoor cordless vacuum even though they seem silly. Silly but useful.

And we have a big fat round fuzzy bumble bee in the back! He makes me smile every time he flies past.

  138. I just had spine surgery on my neck, and I need entertainment!!!! Daytime TV is awful, and I can’t really hold a book yet. Pick me! Pick me! Please. I’ll pretend I’m hiking in my beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains……

  139. YES! PLEASE …anything that may sway my teenage sidekick to stop playing her usual pop atrocity (now don’t get me wrong, we all went through our own personal stages that got us to the sophisticated music palette we now love ;), but me ears can only take so much!!!) I noticed a download of a Glen Hansard song on her ipod just last week – so I think a little mix from you may just persuade her to mesh a little with mama’s likings! Oh please, help a girl out over here…

  140. Enter me in this draw please!!!
I have meant to tell you for a long while that every time I listen to Sarah Harmer’s album, I am a Glow, I think of you! Not sure why, but especially during these two songs.
    XOXO

  141. Heck yeah! Always ready for new tunes.

  142. SArah Breitenstein says

Oh my gosh lady, it is hot here, my irises are drooping and so am I. Hopefully some tunes will perk us all up. I’m afraid your hubby will be busy in Montana this year 🙁

  143. New music is always a wonderful thing! Hoping to take several road trips this summer and blare the tunes to the beat of the mountains!

  144. Anastasia C says

Yes, yes, yes, and a thousand times yes!!! I will be sad not to see your garden through its bloom phase this year Plume, but so look forward to your Gulfstream adventures… and maybe even a CD pack. Yowsers! 🙂 xxxxx

  145. lorelei eurto says

Music is always playing in my studio and I can’t seem to work lately without it. You introduced me to great music in the past so I’d love to win!

  146. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    pick me, pick me.
    🙂

  147. Nothing like some summa’ time tunes!!!
PS- I tried to get Waylon to balance a CD on his head and he ran out the door with it and tried to bury it in the garden!!

  148. Hope I am not to late.. I would sure love to listen to those sweet summer tunes 🙂

  149. I hope I’m not too late either! I can’t wait to see (hear) what lovely mix you have created this time. Thinking of honey bees and wildflowers and golden summer haze, and wishing you a lovely rest of the week!

  150. Sparkleymom23 says

Ooh, count me in too! And thank you for your generous spirit!

  151. Too funny – we are always balancing things on our poor dog’s nose and then making him pose for photos, lol. Our Xmas card was him balancing a giant candy cane rawhide on his nose, and just recently we made him balance a pizza crust on his nose! He really doesn’t mind though 🙂 Would love to win a mixed CD since I’m sitting in silence in my office right now! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  152. 😀 I want to be a traveling Gypsy too.

  153. I want one (a puppers’s halo CD) really bad! Because no one ever makes me mix tapes anymore — waaaah. Such a good present. I made my own but I got sick of it.

Also, so excited for your move. I miss moving. I was saying to Andy yesterday that at a certain point in life, you sort of seem to stop doing it. (Or at least, we did.) I always wanted to be settled so badly, and so did he. So we settled down, and it’s good. But sometimes I miss all those road trips, and road signs, and road sunsets, and road diners, and bad “lattes” from “cafes” out in the middle of nowhere. I miss driving through places and thinking, “Could I live here?” and then fifty miles later, “Could I live *here*?”
